Dr Michael Reid

Dr Michael Reid

Michael Reid is an Australian trained anaesthetist that served in the Australian Defence Force prior to becoming an anaesthetist. He joined the Australian Army in 1995 as a medic and completed a Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Science) (1st Class Honours) at the Queensland University of Technology.

Michael transferred to the Royal Australian Navy in 2003 and obtained his Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Sydney in 2006. He served in the Middle East Area of Operations supporting anti-terrorism and anti-piracy roles. Michael was subsequently posted to the Submarine Underwater Medicine Unit where in obtained his Post Graduate Diploma in Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine (2015).

Michael has developed an interest in trauma management whilst serving in the Australian Defence Force. Michael teaches the Major Haemorrhage Course for Anaesthetic consultants, and sits on the CCLHD Blood Safety Committee, which manages blood transfusion safety for the Central Coast.
